Sorry to but in here but not sure where to make a new post. I am now completly stumped and not sure what to do next. If you have access to another system it looks like there is a way to force the drive to with software. Once you have done this, can you get bios to recognise your drive? My floppy drive is an external one connected via USB to the laptop I am using.
